Thomas C. Petersen
Thomas C. Petersen, 91, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 12:55 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Franklin Park, Ill., on Dec. 30, 1921 to Axel and Carla (Erickson) Peterson.
Tom graduated from Leyden High School in Franklin Park. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He worked as a Journeyman Plasterer in Chicago until his retirement. Following retirement he moved to Nappanee in 1988. He loved his family, good food, tinkering with electronics, golf and supporting his Chicago sports teams.
Survivors include daughters: Katherine (Milton) Becker, McCormick, S.C.; Kristine (Bill) Best, Nappanee; son: Thomas (Connie) Petersen, Annapolis, Md.; grandchildren: Milton Becker, Kimberly Becker-Greer, Erika Curry, Eric Petersen, Kyle Petersen and Stephanie Gibbs; and great grandchildren, Samantha Becker, Victoria Becker-Greer, Whitney Becker-Greer, Grace Becker, Sophie Petersen, Luke Becker, Alexander Curry and Robert Gibbs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Raymond and Stanley Petersen.
Following cremation inurnment will be in the Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago. He will be placed next to his loving wife at a later date.
