North Webster EMS Hosts EMT Classes
North Webster Tippecanoe TWP EMS Education will be sponsoring classes for the new advanced EMT and advanced EMT Bridge classes. The classes will be held at 499 W. Washington St., North Webster.
Courses will take place on Tuesday and Thursdays, beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and will end Thursday, March 13. Two class times are available with classes held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Registration is required for both course time options.
This course meets all requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and the Indiana Homeland Security EMS curriculum. Topics include patient assessment, body systems, trauma, oxygen administration, automatic defibrillation, manual defibrillation, ECG interpretation, IV therapy, pharmacology, primary care medicine, advanced assessment, management of shock and cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, endocrine emergencies and more.
Course cost is $800 for the Advanced EMT class and $400 for the Advanced EMT Bridge class. In order to register, attendees must have current EMT certification/PSID number, possess record of hepatitis shot or signed refusal, current CPR/HPC card, have a current TB test result (within last year) and must have a valid driver’s license. The following requirements can be completed through the state EMS webpage: proof of completion of NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800; proof of completion of Weapons Mass Destruction/Terrorism Response; proof of completion of Autism Awareness; Haz Mat Awareness; and SIDS – Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
