Mary ‘Evelyn’ (Simpson) Drabenstott
Mary ‘Evelyn’ (Simpson) Drabenstott, 74, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 11:32 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Bell County, Ky., to Noah Franklin Hendrickson and Pearlie Geneva (Hampton) Hendrickson. On June 25, 1969, she was married to Bobby Joe Simpson in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
She attended Red Bird High School, Beverly, Ky. Mary lived in Warsaw and Kosciusko County for over 40 years. She was a seamstress at Jomac and in the past she worked for Brown Shoe in Pocahontas, Ark. She was a member of Word of Truth Ministries, Milford, Ind. She loved her Lord and listening to gospel music. Mary enjoyed crafting in general but especially crocheting, cutting recipes and pictures from the newspaper and she was very social. Mary was an amazing and self-sacrificing mom who adored her grandchildren
She is survived by two daughters: Billie Jo (Mitch) Houtz, Mentone, Ind.; Bobbie Jo Pulsipher, Warsaw; two sons: William Bailey, Greensboro, N.C.; Harvey Lee Bailey, Mill Creek, Ky.; step-daughter: Scelina Payne, Missouri; step-son: Ross Simpson, Missouri; brother-in-law: Lannie Hoskins, Claypool, Ind.; sister-in-law: Lois Hendrickson, Hickory, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and former husband and friend: L.C. Drabenstott, Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son: Robert L. Bailey; four brothers: Noah (Bev) Hendrickson, Wendell Hendrickson, infant Billy Ray Hendrickson and James (June) Hendrickson; his parents; a step-son: Barry Simpson; a step-daughter: Angie Daughtery; and three sisters: Pauline Baker, Ruth Winchester and Christina Hoskins
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home. Reverend Micheal Kelley of Word of Truth Ministries will officiate. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
