Chautauqua-Wawasee continues its weekend lecture series at the Oakwood Chapel, in Oakwood Park, Syracuse. The educational series will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays and the religious series will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. Thanks to the generous support of Chautauqua-Wawasee donors and sponsors there is no cost to attend.

Saturday, July 20, Paul D. Steury presents the idea of “Sense of Place” and how it affects us all. Steury will share information about ecosystems and natural processes of northeastern Indiana, provoke interest in life-long investigation and encourage stewardship, a sense of place and hope.

Steury is the education coordinator with Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College. A central element of Merry Lea’s mission is to, “provide environmental education for people of all ages.”

On Saturday, July 27, Dr. Luke Gascho returns with Applied Concepts of “Going Green”.

Sunday, July 21, Grassroots Peacemaking in the Middle East from a Christian Perspective John Lapp, MA

Lapp relates to mission workers and international partners in the Middle East and Asia. He regularly travels to locations throughout these regions and in his presentations speaks about current ministry, mission workers and the local partners who seek to be missional in their contexts. He also analyzes the conflicts and situations that make life and ministry a challenge for Mennonite workers and partners.

On Sunday, July 28, the lecture will be Muslim-Christian Dialogue with Amir J. Tamir Rasheed, Dr. Terry Anderson and Dr. L. Michael Spath. Sunday, Aug. 4, the lecture will be the Interfaith Hunger Initiative in Indy and Kenya with Dr. Kent Millard.
