Hundreds of boaters and boating enthusiasts turned out to view the watercraft.

The first antique and classic boat show held at the newly-renovated Oakwood Resort, Syracuse, drew enthusiasts from both near and far Saturday.

Organized by the Indiana Chapter of the Indiana chapter of The Antique and Classic Boat Society, Inc., the event registered around 50 entries of Chris-Craft and other restored watercraft.

Registrants came from the Wawasee Lake area to participate, but also from other parts of Indiana, from Ohio and even from Alabama.

Although a planned judging of the boats was canceled due to the collapse of a section of the resort dock (no boat was damaged, nor spectator injured), the weekend’s other planned activities went on as scheduled.

Slated for Saturday evening was a special appearance by Chris Smith, grandson of the founder of the Chris-Craft line.
