The Kosciusko County Dive Team and Indiana conservation officers have suspended a search on Little Chapman Lake searching for the victim of a possible drowning.

According to Indiana Conservation Officer Jon Boyd, an active search and rescue operation was underway on Little Chapman Lake for an elderly man last seen around 3:50 p.m. swimming near a pontoon on the lake. The search will resume Wednesday morning.

Members of the Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department were also called to assist with the water search by controlling boat traffic on the lake. Dive teams used sonar in an attempt to locate a body under the water’s surface.

The search is focused on the center of Little Chapman Lake in front of a marshy area off of Chapman Lake Drive.
