WCHS Booster Member Charged With Theft
The Warsaw Community High School Booster Club was bilked out of nearly $3,000 and the woman accused of the crime has confessed to the theft.
Warsaw Police Detective Joe Hawn was first made aware of the missing funds on May 31 when booster club board member Garry Himes reported $2,950 missing. The theft occurred sometime between May 17-31. The money had been collected by Kimberly Hensley.
Hensley reportedly collected the money for the booster club and presented it to Marlin Carr during the school’s sports banquet last month. Carr told Officer Hawn the money was in a metal cash box and he did not count it at the time.
When Carr did examine the contents, he found envelopes inside the cash box but said it was short $2,950. Officers spoke with Hensley, who admitted to the theft.
