North Webster Public Library Announcements
It’s time again for the Friends of the Library Summer Book Sale scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, June 27-29, in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. Sale hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday to Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Whatever your reading tastes, you’ll find plenty of great bargains to choose from. Hundreds of gently used adult and children’s books, movies, games and puzzles will be on sale at very affordable prices.
Friends of the NWPL is a group of dedicated volunteers who support the library in many ways, one of which is organizing four book sales a year with the proceeds going to support the North Webster Community Public Library. Come and replenish your home library with some great reads at great prices.
The Youth Summer Reading Program is in full swing with a full slate of activities going on each week. If you haven’t signed your child up yet, there’s still plenty of time to do so. The “Dig into Reading Club” is for kids birth through fifth grade. The “Beneath the Surface Teen Readers Club” is geared for youth entering sixth grade up to age 20. In both clubs, kids earn prizes for every five hours of reading they complete. Every time they attend a Summer Reading Program event they earn one hour of extra reading credit, plus a chance to win door prizes. Bring the kids in and sign up!
A big “thank you” goes to Kris Stump for putting on the kid’s music show Wednesday, June 12. When the scheduled performer canceled at the last minute due to illness, Kris jumped in and entertained the kids with lively music, musical games and stories, dancing and instruments. Kris teaches music at the Syracuse Elementary School, and her daughters, Laura and Abby Stump, helped their mom out at the show. The kids had lots of fun experiencing the music and expending some youthful energy.
Next week, actor Terry Lynch will entertain the kids with pirate stories from around the world as he portrays Captain Taffy in “Adventures on the High Seas” beginning at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26. Kids, bring your reading passports to get stamped. If they attend five Summer Reading Program events, they earn a prize.
In the adult services department, Voyager Book Club members will be discussing a fiction book each has read at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24. Revolving Recipe Round-Up meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 25. Bring a fruited dish and the recipe to share.
