Cromwell Boy Succumbs To Drowning Accident
A 5-year-old Cromwell boy died Sunday in a Fort Wayne hospital, the result of a drowning accident at a Kendallville lake.
Indiana Conservation Officers investigated what was first called a “near drowning” Saturday at Bixler Lake. Dominic Lehman passed away at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Parkview Hospital.
ICO’s say that at approximately 4:50 p.m. Saturday, Lehman was at the Bixler Lake beach with his family when he went missing. Lifeguards conducting a headcount were one person short when the father of the victim also reported him missing.
Lehman was located almost immediately floating in approximately 5 feet of water, but was unresponsive. Lifeguards and medics performed CPR until EMS personnel arrived and took over those efforts. The child was taken to Parkview Hospital in Noble County and later airlifted to Fort Wayne.
Lehman’s obituary appears HERE.
