Ostrom, Carpenter Make The Cut

imagesSOUTH BEND – A pair of former prep golf standouts, Tyler Ostrom of Warsaw and Quentyn Carpenter of Triton, both made the cut Tuesday at the Indiana Amateur Championship.

Ostrom, now golfing for Ball State University, is tied for 18th place after the second round yesterday at the South Bend Country Club. Ostrom, who won a state championship in 2011 during his junior year at WCHS, shot a three-over par 74 Tuesday.

Ostrom is at 146 through the first two rounds of the four-round event.

Carpenter, who finished his high school career last week at the State Finals, is tied for 46th place at 150. Carpenter shot an 80 Tuesday after firing a one-under 70 on Monday in the opening round.

Adam Schenk of Vincennes holds a four-shot lead. The Purdue senior shot a two-under round of 69 Tuesday despite a double bogey on No. 18. Schenk, who had five birdies Tuesday, is at 136 through the first two rounds.

Drew Immel, who plays at IPFW, and Scott Lamb, a former member at SBCC, are tied for second place at 140. Both shot 71 on Tuesday.

Michael Makris of South Bend, who played in the State Finals as an individual last week, is tied for 34th place at 148. The Mishawaka Marian standout shot 74 Tuesday.

Trey Stoll of Mentone is tied for 57th place at 151.  Stoll shot 75 Tuesday.

The tournament continues today with the final round scheduled for Thursday.
