UPDATE: Two Flown From Leesburg Crash
A single vehicle accident on CR 700 East near Old SR 15, Leesburg, downed a utility pole and what was initially believed to be power lines, and resulted in injuries to three people.
Leesburg Fire officials, Multi-Township EMS and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department personnel were called just after 10 p.m. when the accident involving a car into a utility pole was reported.
According to a report by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Jamilette Bumbaugh, 32, of Milford, failed to negotiate the curve on East 700 North. The vehicle initially struck a tree on the north side of the road, and a utility pole, then continued into a field where it rolled over.
Officials on scene reported the pole and lines were at least partially across the road following the crash. Initially, officials were dispatched to CR 170 East and Harper Road.
Bumbaugh was taken by ambulance to the hospital for medical treatment and a legal blood draw. According to the police report, she complained of shoulder pain.
Two passengers in the vehicle were airlifted to Parkview Hospital. They were Jailene Ortiz, 15, of Milford, and Noami Castillo, 17, of Warsaw. Ortiz sustained abdominal and/or pelvic injuries. Castillo complained of shoulder or upper arm pain, according to the police report.
Upon investigation, officials reported damages to a CenturyLink utility pole and crops owned by Zehring Farms.
The accident resulted in up to $25,000 in damages.
