Motorcycle Cruise-In Highlights First Friday
“We are Lake City” is the theme of this month’s First Friday event in downtown Warsaw and the activities will include a motorcycle cruise-in and show. There will also be activities to tie in with the weekend’s Northern Indiana Lakes Festival. (See story)
First Friday kicks off this Friday at 5:30 p.m. when five motorcycle groups will be led downtown by Warsaw Police Lt. Kip Shuter. Members of Blood Bought Bikers Christian Motorcycle Group, Abate, Patriot Riders, Lake City Wings and Marine Riders will ride into downtown Warsaw and be set up on the east block of Center Street near Mad Anthony’s.
The cruise-in was organized by Tracy Marshall and the Marine Riders of Michiana. For those wishing to have bikes judged, entry fee is by donation with all proceeds going to the VFW National Home for Children. The public will be able to vote by placing tickets in the envelopes of their favorite bikes. At the end of the night, the bike with the most tickets wins a People’s Choice plaque graciously donated by Acey’s Trophies in Warsaw.
If you would like to “cruise-in,” meet Friday at the Market Street Dollar General parking lot at 4:45 p.m., with kickstands up at 5:10 p.m.
A boat show is also planned for the Friday festivities. That will be set up on South Buffalo Street just south of the courthouse square.
Other fun things going on during First Friday will be a dunk tank, and water games on North Buffalo Street; corn hole, beach volleyball and a sand castle competition. Kiddie pools filled with sand will provide the materials needed for those who want to create a sand sculpture.
Arts and crafts vendors will also be set up around the courthouse square.
The Northern Indiana Lakes Festival is sponsoring a Community Canvas, which is a Kosciusko Leadership Academy white paper project.
Deb Collier’s School of Dance will take Center Street stage at 7 p.m., following performances by the Lee Ann Stewart Dance School at 6:30 p.m.
First Friday is sponsored by the city of Warsaw and the Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation.
The event will have the following area of downtown closed from approximately 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.: Center Street from Lake to Indiana streets and Buffalo Street from Main to Market streets.
