Cody David Floyd
Cody David Floyd, 16, of Akron, Ind., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 19, 2013, in Burket, Ind.
He was born July 7, 1996, in Warsaw, Ind., to Bruce and Theresa (Hoff) Floyd. He was a sophomore at Tippecanoe Valley High School where he played linebacker on the football team wearing No. 24.
He always enjoyed all outdoor sports. He also was a wrestler qualifying for Regionals as a freshman as well as being state ranked. He took a lot of agricultural classes and was an 8-year member of 4-H in the Henry Newcomers Club. He showed beef cattle and swine. He also worked on community building projects in 4-H.
Cody is survived by his parents: Bruce and Theresa Floyd, Akron; maternal grandparents: George and Ruth Hoff, Akron; paternal grandmother: Shirley Denney, Akron; sisters: Samantha Hoff and Christy Floyd, both of Akron; a nephew: Ian Conner, Akron; paternal aunts: Anita (Gary) Webb, Chesapeake, Ohio; and Crystal Long, Goshen, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Bruce D. Floyd Sr. and Tom Denney; and an uncle: Rodney Huff
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Tippecanoe Valley High School, 8345 S. SR 19, Akron. Services will follow at 11 a.m. in the school. Burial will follow at Akron Cemetery, Akron.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Services/Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
