Warriors Split At JV Baseball Invite
SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s JV baseball team rallied from a game one loss to Wabash, 7-5, to split after beating Tippecanoe Valley, 14-4, in the second game of its appearance in the Wawasee JV Baseball Invite Saturday.
Wabash jumped out to a 6-0 lead on five consecutive RBI hits before Wawasee could strike with three runs in the third to cut the lead in half. Wabash tacked on one run in the fourth while Wawasee were only able to post single runs in the sixth and seventh against the Apaches.
Lucas Garza led Wawasee in the game with two hits, two runs and a walk.
In the consolation game against Tippecanoe Valley, Harrison Shortill led the charge with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored as the Warriors rolled 14-4 over the Vikings.
Aaron Voirol, Colin Beer and Chase Rookstool all added two hits and combined for five runs and four RBIs. Voirol picked up the win on the hill, helping the Warriors to a 12-8 mark this season.
Concord, a last-minute add to the tournament after Churubusco dropped out late in the week, won the tournament. The Minutemen beat Valley in the opener and Wabash in the final, scores were not reported for the two games.
