UPDATE: Kosciusko Democrat Party Chairman Resigns
Kosciusko County Democrat Party Chairman Terry Bartley has resigned his position effective today.
According to Steve Haines, former Democratic chairman for the county, Bartley sent an email this morning making the announcement but failed to provide a reason.
Bartley was just re-elected on March 2 to his second four-year term. The party’s vice chair, Lee Ann Brown, will serve in the interim.
Bartley tells StaceyPageOnline.com that he simply needed some down time. “Balancing time with what the job demands with my personal life … it is just the time constraint. This is a job that you’re married to. People call all hours of the day and night and there’s just no down time,” he explained. “Truly, I’m just burned out. It’s time a took a step back and spent more time for me.”
Bartley adds that he plans to stay active in the Democratic party and stresses, “I’m in no way mad at anyone or stepping away from the party. I’ll still be active, but on my terms. I’m not going anywhere.”
Although he was just re-elected on March 2, Bartley says it was known in the party that he was hesitant to run again and explains he opted to do so thinking the party may not have had anyone willing to step up to the plate and give the job the time and effort it deserves.
The Democratic party has a meeting scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the party’s headquarters, 417 E. Winona Ave. They are asking county Democrats to attend the meeting as they discuss how to move forward in electing a new chairman.
Current officer holders, including Brown, are Jeanne Scott, secretary; John Bonitati, treasurer; and Arthur Brown, communications/media director.
