Leon Robert Wilhite
Leon Robert Wilhite, 83, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor.
He was resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., for the past 50 years, where he worked for Zimmer Inc. of Warsaw as a printer pressman, retiring in 1994 after 21 years.
Leon served in the U.S. Army, joining in 1946, and honorably discharged in 1950. He was a member of Kropf Cruisers Camping Club in Goshen, Ind., was a former member and leader of the First Christian Church and Calvary Chapel of Warsaw and he enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Petie.
He was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Peru, Ind., to Leon Waymond Wilhite and Viola (Forshee) Wilhite. On June 13, 1954, he was married to Ruby Joan Kinzie, who survives in Warsaw.
He is also survived by two sons: Jack (Theresa) Wilhite, Warsaw; Chad (Melanie) Wilhite, Warsaw; six grandchildren: Brandon (Stacey) Wilhite, Stacey (Clinton) Judd, Lance Wilhite, Clayson Wilhite, Julia (Andy) Tuinstra, Ross (Molly) Wilhite; five great-grandchildren: Carson, Reagan, Linux, Morgan and Max; and his sister: Marjorie Lee Anderson, Monticello, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw. His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Bill Garner. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
