Strausborger Crushes For Memorial
ELKHART — A huge night from Lauren Strausborger was too much for Wawasee to handle. The slugging center fielder for Memorial had three hits, including a homer, and had three RBIs as the Lady Chargers beat the Lady Warriors 5-2 Thursday night.
Strausborger also scored two runs to go with the pair of runs Kara Summers added. Memorial plated a pair of runs in the first and third innings and added an insurance run in the fourth, which was the only inning Wawasee scored.
Ashlynn Fisher and Kylie Norris both had two hits to pace Wawasee (3-4, 2-2 NLC), which had an efficient start from Alli Ousley, pitching six innings of eight-hit, three-walk, seven strikeout ball.
Memorial’s Paige Erwin was sharp, allowing just seven hits and walked nine while fanning four in the complete game win.
With the win, Memorial moved to 6-6 overall, 3-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference. The Lady Chargers played NorthWood in game two of a doubleheader Thursday night at Memorial.
In the JV game, Wawasee broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the seventh to stun Memorial, 2-0. Alexis Graber pitched the shutout and Sierra Hart had two hits to lead the Wawasee offense.
