Board games are available, both in the children’s department and in the teen area. The library has ten computers individuals over 14 years-old and six for those under the age of 13. A reminder to parents: children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult and children are allowed to use the computers only when they have a signed parental permission form.
Drop in to make any of a variety of spring crafts. Crafts and paints are in the children’s department.
Overdue Procedure
Sometimes time just goes too quickly. The Syracuse Public Library mails reminders when materials are 14 days overdue and 28 days overdue. Many people are helped by receiving Evergreen reminders through their email three days before an item is due and if it becomes late. The purpose of the twenty-five cent daily overdue fine is to encourage the return of materials before the cost becomes burdensome.
Most people return the materials they have checked-out on time. People that keep items past the due date are charged for the cost of the item in addition the overdue fines when the item is 45 days overdue. Bills for the cost of these lost items can easily exceed several hundred dollars per account. Items can be dropped off at any Evergreen library drop-box to be returned to the lending library. Returning long overdue items will remove the billing for the cost of the item from the account.
