Jill Olson, producer of the appraised Storytown Chicago, will be a visiting artist during spring break to the North Webster Community Center. She will teach a kids comedy class from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3. The class is for ages 8-13.
Her workshop will focus on basic improv comedy games, thinking on your feet, and just letting go and having fun. Jill has worked in children’s theater programming for 10 years and runs children’s programming for Chicago Sketchfest. Register online or call 574-834-1600 Ext. 225 for more info. T’ai Chi classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays in April. Cost of attendance is $60 for four weeks. T’ai Chi helps you to find your breathe and balance your mental energy. This class is for all levels. Attend twice a week.
Painting classes will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 21-April 25. Cost of attendance is $80. Bring canvas and paints. Subjects will be supplied. Beginners welcome.
Open Mic Night will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, and is free to the people of all ages. Come grab a 5 minute time slot to show your stuff. All talents are welcome! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for questions about material and times. Come be a part of the audience if you’d like.
Glass Fusion class will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15. The cost of the class is $45 and all supplies will be included. Learn to cut colored and dichroic glass and assemble to a piece of art. Students will decide if they want to turn it into a sun catcher or a piece of jewelry. We will fire it in the kiln and it will all fuse together.
Adult Comedy Improv will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. for advanced work, on Wednesdays, April 17 to May 22. Classes cost $45 and are available to individuals age 14 and up. Beginners can sign up for the two hour class. Learn the basics of comedy improv. Improve communication, listening, confidence and be funny without trying. Advanced students perform locally. The next show will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Community Center.
Precious Metal Clay class will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 29. Cost of attendance is $55. Using a small ball of metal clay we will learn to form it into a pendant with different tools, textures and stamps. After firing in the kiln you are left with 99.9% silver. We will meet Monday, May 6, to polish and patina our masterpieces. All supplies and tools provided.
Screenwriting classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays April 29 to June 3. Cost of attendance is $45. Learn the tools to bring your story to screenplay.
