Yeo Honored by IBCA
Clay Yeo has earned the IBCA/Subway Player of the Week honors for his pair of performances Saturday in regional play.
The Triton High School senior star was chosen as the District 1 recipient after leading the No. 10 Trojans to the championship of the Class 1-A Triton Regional.
Yeo, a 6-6 wing player bound for Valparaiso University, had 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a 44-41 regional semifinal win over Fort Wayne Canterbury. He hit 11-of-11 free throws in the win.
Yeo then turned in a sensational showing in the title game Saturday night as he poured in 35 points on 13-of-17 shooting from the field as Triton defeated No. 4 Pioneer 53-41 in the title game. He hit 3-of-5 from 3-point range and also had five rebounds and three blocked shots.
Yeo also earned IBCA/Subway Player of the Week honors earlier this season (Dec. 10-15).
Triton (19-5) will face No. 6 Lafayette Central Catholic (18-8) on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Class 1-A North Semistate game at Lafayette Jefferson High School. The winner advances to the Class 1-A state championship game on Saturday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
