Syracuse Public Library News
The Syracuse Public Library is pleased to offer the AWE Early Literacy Station, a self-contained, educational computer station with carefully selected programs for children ages 2-10.
Located in the Children’s Services, this touch screen computer contains over 50 top- rated, fun, educational games. The programs loaded on this computer are a great, educational way for children to get a head start on reading. The system is designed to attract and educate toddlers through early elementary school ages.
Furthermore, because AWE software is aligned with U.S., state and national standards, each program on the ELS falls under at least one of the Indiana Early Learning Standards to promote development from early childhood through elementary-age students.
The juvenile department has a wealth of resources to help you get your child ready to read. In addition to all the great story times and programs there are materials for parents and children to encourage and foster early literacy. It is not too late to join story times at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays or Tuesdays.
Apple Time for Teens
From 5 p .m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, young people can practice vocabulary skills. The YA New-book Club is playing Apples to Apples and eating apple cake. Apples to Apples is a group game that is totally unpredictable. Teens from grades 6-12 are invited to come to the downstairs meeting room.
1040 Instruction Booklets
The long awaited 1040 Instruction booklets are available to help finish those taxes. All the federal and state tax forms are available; however the state is not printing any more booklets. The Syracuse Library staff is available to answer questions at 574-457-3022 during business hours.
