Jazz Styles Performed By Bethel Students
MISHAWAKA, IND. – The Bethel College Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will perform its 15th annual Jazz Coffeehouse Concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Mar. 22, in the Bethel College Dining Commons. This event is free and open to the public.
A wide variety of jazz compositions and arrangements will be performed featuring Bethel students, including the music of George Gershwin, Gordon Goodwin, Thad Jones, Sonny Rollins and more. Compositions include “Love is Here to Stay,” “Hit the Ground Running,” “A Child is Born,” “St. Thomas,” and traditional tunes “Just a Closer Walk with Thee,” and “This Little Light of Mine.”
Soloists include: pianist Courtney Schrock, saxophonist Stephen Horton, drummer Jacob Grabill, trumpet players Jimmy Bennett and Renee Struwing, trombonist Everett Forrester, and vocalist Sarah Fish.
“I love the casual atmosphere where people can sip on a beverage while enjoying some great music,” says Director Reginald Klopfenstein, D.M.
The Jazz Coffeehouse Concert events began in the spring of 1999 by Klopfenstein, who is also a professor of music at Bethel. For more information call 574-807-7575.
