Trojans To Clash With Canterbury
BOURBON – The Triton boys basketball team now knows who it will face on Saturday in the regional.
The Trojans will square off with familiar foe Fort Wayne Canterbury in the Class 1-A Triton Regional. Canterbury edged Lakewood Park 57-56 Monday night to win the Hamilton Sectional championship. The game had been rescheduled from Saturday night due to the Canterbury girls basketball team playing in the State Finals that day in Terre Haute.
The Triton Regional this Saturday begins with semifinal play at 10:30 a.m. (ET). The first contest features Gary 21st Century (15-7) vs. Pioneer (20-3), followed by the host Trojans (17-5) vs. Canterbury (15-8). The winners then square off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the regional title and a spot in the semi state March 16 at either Lafayette Jeff or Huntington North.
Triton won its sixth straight sectional championship Saturday night by defeated Michigan City Marquette Catholic in the title game at Culver. The Trojans lost 64-60 to Canterbury in the regional championship game at home a year ago.
