Irene May Ramsey
Irene May Ramsey, 85, or Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 9:46 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, in her residence.
On Nov. 10, 1927, Irene was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Hamford S. and E. Fairy (Crelling) Smith. She married Allan M. Ramsey on Aug. 20, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2005.
Irene moved from Warsaw to Kissimmee, Fla., then moved back to the Warsaw area in 2000. She worked for Ramsey News Company, Warsaw and Show and Sell Publications, West Palm Beach, Fla. Irene was a member of North Salem Church of God, Plymouth and Tiger Fellowship Church, Warsaw. She was lovingly referred to as “The Sunshine Lady” around Retired Tigers. She was a member of Retired Tigers Bible Study Group, “Keepin On” Home Extension Club and was a volunteer with KCH, Miller’s Merry Manor and Real Services, Warsaw.
Irene is survived by five children: Lawrence (Susy) Ramsey, Warsaw; Jeanette Martin, Oregon; Rebecca Grubbs (and companion Dale McMullin), Winona Lake, Ind.; Burton A. Ramsey, Pierceton, Ind.; and Donald E. (Vickie) Ramsey, Winona Lake; one sister: Doris (Fred) Schuld, Macedonia, Ohio; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Frederick Ramsey.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Reverend Gene Gephart officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation hours will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the funeral chapel.
