UPDATE: Stabbing At Suburban Acres
Attempted murder charges have been filed against a Milford man after a stabbing that happened in Suburban Acres Trailer Park Wednesday night.
Warsaw and Kosciusko County police, Multi-Township EMS, the Leesburg Fire Department and Kosciusko County Crime Scene Investigators were called at 9:03 p.m. to CR 175 East near 8 Square Road at Suburban Acres Trailer Park to what was initially believed to be a shooting.
Officers arrived at Lot 141 and located the victim, Ruben Enciso, 39. They also discovered Enciso had actually been stabbed approximately 14 times.
An air ambulance was immediately summoned to the scene, along with Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department to establish a landing zone for the helicopter. As the fire department arrived, they reported finding a second victim lying in a ditch approximately 150 feet from Lot 141. Hugo Alvarado, 33, Milford, was suffering from a contusion to the head and an apparent broken leg.
Detectives are not sure how Hugo Alvarado sustained the leg injury, but they say he was involved in some type of altercation in Milford prior to the stabbing and apparently obtained the head injury there. KCSD Sgt. Chad Hill also noted there was some form of intoxication that was prevalent..
Both Enciso and Alvarado were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne as officers and K-9 units from multiple agencies converged on the area in an attempt to locate the suspect, who was identified as Juan Carlos Alvarado, 25, Milford.
Detectives said Hugo Alvarado and Juan Alvarado are brothers. They had gone to Enciso’s residence and confronted him in a back bedroom of the trailer at Lot 141 where he was subsequently stabbed during a domestic dispute. Police have not yet said how Hugo Alvarado was injured.
Police were searching vacant trailers in Suburban Acres looking for Juan Alvarado when, at approximately 12:37 a.m., they received information that he was at 314 N. Columbia Street in Warsaw. Deputies positively identified the suspect through a window at that location and entered the home, taking him into custody without incident.
Juan Alvarado has preliminarily been charged with felony attempted murder with a knife and is being held without bond. Officers obtained a search warrant for the Columbia Street residence and located a knife they believe was used in the stabbing. Other evidence and a small amount of marijuana was also located.
Enciso is currently listed in serious condition at Parkview Regional Medical Center, while Hugo Alvarado is in fair condition.
Potential charges against Hugo Alvarado will be forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. Through their investigation, detectives learned he allegedly prevented occupants inside the mobile home from leaving or calling emergency assistance after Enciso was stabbed.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted with the investigation by members of the Indiana State Police, Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department and the Milford Police Department.
