An Akron man has now been missing nearly two weeks and neither police nor his wife have any clues to his whereabouts.

Ruben Paredes, 32, and his wife, Amber, recently moved from Warsaw to Akron. Amber said her husband came to Warsaw on the night of Feb. 1 to meet with friends, but he never came home and he has not been heard from since.

A missing person’s report was filed in Fulton County early Sunday morning, Feb. 3. Akron Police Chief Tim Fleck took the report. Today he tells StaceyPageOnline.com that, while the disappearance itself is suspicious, criminally there is no evidence to suspect foul play.

Amber Paredes believes her husband went missing from the Warsaw area. The last contact she had with him was at 11:10 p.m. on Feb. 1 when he called to tell her he would be home soon. “I had a missed call on my cell phone at 12:06 a.m., but he would call the house phone so that seemed unusual to me,” she added.

According to Fleck, on Tuesday, Feb. 5, Ruben’s vehicle was found abandoned in Chicago. It was located on the south side of the city in a business district in front of a church. “It was left there a few days earlier,” he said. The vehicle was processed for information but failed to reveal any clues or evidence of foul play.

Fleck said he also put a trace on Ruben’s cell phone, but there has been no activity since Feb. 3. Ruben’s information has been entered into the National Criminal Information Center which is accessible to all law enforcement agencies.

Fleck said photographs of Ruben Paredes were sent to police in the area of Chicago where the vehicle was located. So far, no one has said they saw him or knew him.

Locally, Kosciusko County officers were asked to check out locations where Ruben Paredes may have visited or had friends. Still, police have failed to get any information that would lead to his whereabouts.

Ruben Paredes is a male Hispanic, about 180 pounds. He has tattoos on his back, chest and both upper arms. One of his tattoos is on his right upper arm with an open-mouthed pitbull and the saying “Only the Strong Survive.”

Amber Paredes said it is not like her husband to just disappear. She has called jails, hospitals and even morgues all over northern Indiana and Chicago but has yet to locate any information about her husband. She is offering a reward for anyone who can help locate him.
