Local Students Enlist In Army National Guard

SFC Daniel H. Murphy of the Indiana National Guard announces the following local high school students have recently enlisted in the Guard:

Branigan Bahney
Branigan Bahney recently enlisted into, Company A, 113TH Engineer, Indiana Army National Guard. Bahney is a junior at Tippecanoe Valley High School and resides in Warsaw. He is the son of Ashel Santana.

According to his recruiter, SPC James Bartlett, Bahney enlisted Jan. 30 under the Split Option Training Plan. He will attend Basic Training at Fort Benning, Ga., over the summer between his junior and senior year of high school. Upon graduation in 2014, Bahney will return to training for his Advanced Individual Training.

Bahney will receive the Indiana Army National Guard 100 percent State College Tuition Assistance Program and the Montgomery GI Bill.

Keith Baker
Keith Baker recently enlisted into 338TH Quartermaster Support Company, Indiana Army National Guard. Baker is a junior at Warsaw Community High School and resides in Warsaw. He is the son of Christopher Baker and Lorrie Myers.

According to his recruiter, SFC Dan Murphy, Baker enlisted Jan. 18 as a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer under the Split Option Training Plan. He will attend Basic Training at Fort Jackson, S.C., over the summer between his junior and senior year of high school. Upon Graduation in 2014, Baker will return to training for his Advanced Individual Training.

Baker will receive the Indiana Army National Guard 100 percent State College Tuition Assistance Program and the Montgomery GI Bill.

Carlos Brito
Carlos Brito recently enlisted into Company B, 2/151 Infantry, Indiana Army National Guard. Brito is a junior at Warsaw Community High School and resides in Pierceton with his mother, Delfina Cervantes.

According to his recruiter, SFC Dan Murphy, Brito enlisted Jan. 30 under the Split Option Training Plan. He will attend Basic Training at Fort Benning, Ga., over the summer between his junior and senior year of high school. Upon graduation in 2014, Brito will return to training for his Advanced Individual Training.

Brito will receive the Indiana Army National Guard 100 percent State College Tuition Assistance Program and the Montgomery GI Bill.

Trent Jones
Trent Jones recently enlisted into, Troop A, 2/152 Cavalry, Indiana Army National Guard. Jones is a senior at Tippecanoe Valley High School and resides in Warsaw. He is the brother of Shawnda Jones.

According to his recruiter, SPC James Bartlett, Jones enlisted Jan. 16 as a Cavalry Scout. He will attend Basic Training at Fort Benning, Ga., and will learn basic military skills such as First Aid, land navigation and basic rifle marksmanship, as well as offensive and defensive combat operations.

Jones will receive the Indiana Army National Guard 100 percent State College Tuition Assistance Program and the Montgomery GI Bill.

Jeff Matthews
Jeff Matthews recently enlisted into, Company B, 1/293RD Infantry, Indiana Army National Guard. Matthews is a senior at Wawasee High School and resides in Syracuse. He is the son of Stephanie Cannon.

According to his recruiter, SPC James Bartlett, Matthews enlisted Jan. 16 as an Infantryman. He will attend Basic Training at Fort Benning, Ga., and will learn basic military skills such as First Aid, land navigation and basic rifle marksmanship, as well as offensive and defensive combat operations.

Matthews will receive the Indiana Army National Guard 100 percent State College Tuition Assistance Program and the Montgomery GI Bill.

George Ruckman
George Ruckman recently enlisted into the 176th Finance Detachment, Indiana Army National Guard. Ruckman is a junior at Warsaw Community High School and resides in Leesburg with his parents, George and Tracey Ruckman.

According to his Recruiter, SFC Dan Murphy, Ruckman enlisted Jan. 22 under the Split Option Training Plan. He will attend Basic Training at Fort Jackson, S.C., over the summer between his junior and senior year of high school. Upon graduation in 2014, Ruckman will return to training for his Advanced Individual Training.

Ruckman will receive the Indiana Army National Guard 100 percent State College Tuition Assistance Program and the Montgomery GI Bill.
