Incidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following incidents:
- Jan. 24, between 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. Stephen Jeffrey Miller advised police of a forgery when his check was fraudulently cashed at Wilby’s.
- Jan. 28, between 9:30 p.m. and 10:53 p.m. Police responded to a Dot Street residence in reference to suspicious actions of an adult male.
- Jan. 29, 3:15 p.m. Police served a warrant at 920 Anchorage Road, where a subject was arrested.
- Jan. 29-30, between 6 a.m. Jan. 29 and 12:30 a.m. Jan 30. Cindy J. Poe reported her mail being tampered with.
Accidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Friday, Jan. 25, 9:34 a.m. US 30 and CR 250 East. Drivers: Johnny E. Sampson, 42, Oakgarden, Dallas, Texas; Kevin J. Kimberly, 41, West Main Street, Greenwich, Ohio; Jeremy G. Grueser, 38, CR 11, Nappanee; Sampson was westbound on U.S. 30. As he approached the intersection he attempted to brake for traffic, however, he slid through the snow and struck Kimberly forcing his vehicle forward into Grueser. Damages: up to $1,000
Friday, Jan. 25, 4:08 p.m. North Detroit Street and East Main Street. Drivers: Carl W. Burt, 60, West Crystal Lake Road, Warsaw; David W. Leiter, 65, 517 South 950 West, Etna Green. Burt pulled out of the CVS parking lot and turned left/west onto East Main Street and crossed North Detroit Street on a redlight. Burt was struck by Leiter, who had the right of way. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, Jan. 25, 4:29 p.m. Wexford Place. Driver: Whitney N. Hobbs, 26, Old Colony Road, Warsaw. Hobbs lost control of her vehicle due to snow and struck a light pole. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, Jan. 25, 5:09 p.m. Walton Boulevard. Drivers: Jeffrey L. Sutton, 32, 100 North, Pierceton; Michael L. Bickel, 65, EMS B37 Lane, Warsaw. Sutton backed out of his parking space at Walmart when he struck Bickel who was also backing out of a parking space. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Jan. 25, 7:34 p.m. East Winona Avenue and South Scott Street. Drivers: Bradley M. Long, 25, Sand Castle Drive, Warsaw; Robert L. McDonald, 50, North Zimmer Road, Warsaw. Long stated that he was southbound on Scott Street when he entered the East Winona Avenue intersection on a red light causing him to collide into the side of McDonald who was eastbound on Winona Avenue. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, Jan. 26, 3:42 a.m. 6733 West 600 North. Drivers: Jeremy J. Neibert, 23, Lakeview Drive, Warsaw. Neibert, who was fleeing from police, had parked his vehicle in a driveway and fled the vehicle, when police found him stuck in a nearby tree, he denied being the driver of the vehicle. According to police, tire tracks indicate Neibert struck a tree. Neibert was given a drug and alcohol test, the results of which are pending. Damages: up to $2,500
Sunday, Jan. 27, 10:33 a.m. 2519 East Center Street. Driver: Ricardo Valdez, 30, 12th Street Northwest, Warsaw. Valdez was backing into a parking spot and because of ice on the road way, slid into a wall. Damages: up to $1,000
Sunday, Jan. 27, 7:45 p.m. 2211 East Center Street. Drivers: Alexis S. Hepler, 16, Woodland Hills Drive East, Warsaw; Lesli I. Broderick, 41, Chestnut Avenue, Winona Lake. Hepler collided with Broderick in a parking lot due to icy road conditions. Damages: up to $2,500
Monday, Jan. 28, 7:40 p.m. South Buffalo Street. Driver: Phillip W. Neff, 72, East Tyner Street, Warsaw. Neff was exiting the parking lot of Short Stop on South Buffalo Street traveling eastbound when he struck the rear passenger side of an unoccupied parked vehicle owned by Francis J. Marino of Graceland Avenue, Claypool. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 29, 7:25 a.m. West Center and South Columbia Streets. Drivers: Lindsey M. Franks, 22, 4290 West 100 South, Warsaw; Jennifer L. Long, 39, North Lake Street, Warsaw. Frank was eastbound on West Center Street and had stopped at the South Columbia Street stop sign Long was also stopped at. Both drivers proceded through the intersection and collided with each other. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Jan. 29, 3:34 p.m. South Buffalo Street and EastĀ PrairieĀ Street. Drivers: Becka E. Hapner, 59, 200 West, Leesburg; Michael R. Long, 35, 250 South, Warsaw. Hapner, who was stopped at a traffic light, backed up to give a semi truck room to turn north on South Buffalo street when she backed into Long. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1:01 a.m. 300 North. Driver: Tad C. Hayes, 32, Rieder Street, Warsaw. Hayes was west on CR 300 North when he struck a tree that had fallen into the roadway during a thunderstorm. Damages: up to $2,500
