Warrior Gymnasts Dance Past Knights
KENDALLVILLE β Wawasee evened its season mark at 3-3 with a 94.75-93.6 win at East Noble Monday night in gymnastics action.
Ties on vault between Wawasee’s Kim Garber and Emily Allen (8.55) as well as Garber and East Noble’s Michaela Corbin at 8.8 on floor gave Wawasee needed big numbers. Taylor Busse’s 7.9 on bars was one of three Wawasee scores in the sevens and Allen posted a second-place score of 8.25 on beam to lead her team.
Corbin would score an 8.9 on beam to lead all competitors and would pace the Knights on the bars with a 7.5. Corbin’s teammate Brianna Glass would add an 8.55 on floor to help the Knight’s cause.
Corbin compiled a 33.5 in the all-around scoring while Allen led Wawasee with a 32.1 on the four disciplines.
Leading Wawasee in JV events were Esther Hermann on vault at 7.5, Taylor Heck on beam at 5.3 and Deea Coy on floor at 6.2.
βIt’s nice to have another victory. We have a lot to work on before the next meet,β said Wawasee head coach Nika Prather.
The next meet for the Warriors is Wednesday when DeKalb visits Wawasee.
