February Is Library Lover’s Month
February is Library Lover’s Month at Warsaw Community Public Library. Library Lovers’ Month is a month-long celebration of public, school and private libraries of all types. This is a time for everyone to recognize the important role libraries play in the cultural and economic success of local communities and the nation as a whole.
Whether they depend on the library for bestselling books, children’s storytimes or access to computers and the Internet, area residents are encouraged to show how much they love their local public library this month.
Warsaw Community Public Library is celebrating Library Lover’s Month by having a Winter Reading program which ends Feb. 16. Win prizes by reading pages. Contact the reference desk for more details.
There is also a Library Lover’s Used Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15. You can purchase two bags of VHS tapes for only 25 cents! And, don’t forget to check out our “Authors We Love” display on the lower level and see if your favorite author is there!
Here are some ideas on how you can love your library.
- Contribute: Consider a tax-deductible gift to your public library. Warsaw Community Public Library has memorial programs, endowments and other opportunities to support quality library services.
- Volunteer: Volunteer your time. Opportunities include shelving books, presenting an adult program, assisting at book sales, and helping with genealogical searches in the Indiana Room.
- Promote Your Library: You don’t have to be a public relations expert to promote your library. You just have to talk about your library. Attend local government meetings to urge city and county legislators to invest in libraries as a vital community resource, write a letter to the editor or call in to a radio talk show to express your support for the library, speak up for libraries at campus or community groups that you belong to – the PTA, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, League of Women Voters, faculty groups, and invite your librarian to talk about library services and needs.
