Yeo Nominated For McDonald’s Honor
Triton High School senior star Clay Yeo has been nominated for the McDonald’s All-American boys basketball team.
Yeo, a 6-6 senior guard, is just one of seven boys players statewide who were nominated for the honor. Yeo, who has signed to play at Valparaiso University, is averaging 27.5 points-per-game this season for coach Jason Groves’ squad. The Trojans are currently 8-5.
The only other area player nominated to the teams, either on the boys or girls side, is Mishawaka Marian standout Demetrius Jackson. The 6-1 senior guard, who has signed to play at Notre Dame next season, is averaging 28.2 points-per-game for coach Robb Berger’s team. The Knights are 7-6 on the season.
There were six Indiana girls players nominated for the McDonald’s team, but none from the immediate area. A total of 800 players nationwide were nominated for the four teams, two boys and two girls.
The top 24 boys and top 24 girls will be named as McDonald’s All-Americans on Feb. 14. They will then be eligible to play in the McDonald’s All-American games on April 3 at the United Center in Chicago.
