Whitley Products Closes Plymouth Plant
A company headquartered in Warsaw has seemingly violated a federal law and failed to provide employees or the Plymouth community with notice that it was closing its doors.
Whitley Products Inc. reportedly closed its doors today without any notice to anyone. In a statement released by the the company, Whitley Products blames the shut down on finances.
According to the statement, “Whitley Products Inc.’s senior lender has again refused to provide the necessary funding to enable Whitley to continue its operations. As a consequence, and with great regret, we must inform you that Whitley Products Inc. has terminated operations, effective today. For our employees, this means that their employment is terminated, effective immediately.”
Whitley Products, headquartered in Warsaw, closed the Plymouth facility today. Operations also exist in Warsaw and in Franklin, N.C., but our calls to the Warsaw offices went unanswered and no voicemail options were provided.
According to the company website, Whitley Products is the largest Tier Two supplier of precision tubular products to the diesel engine, agricultural equipment, off-highway, construction equipment and HVAC markets.
According to the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, companies with at least 100 employees must provide 60 days notice to employees if the plan to close or have mass layoffs. The company’s profile notes it has up to 200 employees.
Whitley Products was founded in 1942.
