Catharine Louise (Witmer) Zimmerman
Catharine Louise (Witmer) Zimmerman, 88, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 1:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, surrounded by family in her home.
She was born March 22, 1924, in Elkhart County, Ind., to Walter H. and Alma (Shaum) Witmer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church.
She married Maynard C. Zimmerman on March 24, 1946, in Goshen, Ind. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter: Wanda Nolt, Wakarusa, Ind.; eight sons: Dennis Zimmerman, Goshen; Paul Zimmerman, Decker, Mich.; Raymond Zimmerman, Snover, Mich.; Glen Zimmerman, Nappanee; James Zimmerman, Howe, Ind.; Carlton Zimmerman, Brooten, Minn.; Arden Zimmerman, Nappanee; Walter Zimmerman, Loudonville, Ohio; two daughters-in-law: Reba Zimmerman, Decker, Mich.; and Lydia Zimmerman, Middlebury, Ind.; 50 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; a brother: Paul Witmer, Goshen; and two sisters: Mary Hoover, Goshen; and Mable Skiles, Wakarusa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Weldon Zimmerman; two brothers: Isaiah and Anson Witmer; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church. Officiating will be John Zimmerman, Allen Martin and James Sadler. Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church Cemetery.
