Incidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department have recently investigated the following incidents:
- Dec. 28, 5:42 p.m. Walmart Supercenter of Warsaw reported a shoplifting.
- Dec. 28, 8 p.m. Officers of the Warsaw Police Department encountered Jeremy Griffin in possession of marijuana while stopping him for a traffic violation at U.S. 30 and 200 North. He was later taken into police custody for driving while suspended and refusal to submit to a chemical drug test.
- Dec. 29, 3:38 a.m. A Warsaw man reported battery at 2509 E. Center St.
- Dec. 29, 7:37 a.m. Gabriel Rager reported theft when a suspicious person attempted to enter her vehicles at 117 S. Hickory St.
- Dec. 30, 2:30 a.m. Evelyn Chavez reported criminal mischief when her satellite dish was damaged at 1404 Tippecanoe Dr.
- Dec. 30, 9:31 a.m. Kelsey May reported criminal mischief to her vehicle at 836 N. Lake st.
- Dec. 30, 9:44 a.m. Jeffrey Smith reported criminal mischief when his satellite dish was damaged at 1404 Tippecanoe Dr.
- Dec. 30, 11:32 a.m. Wade Wirebaugh reported criminal mischief at 1218 E. Sheridan St.
- Dec. 30, 12:38 p.m. Nathaniel Clayton reported criminal mischief in the form of vandalism to his home at 1024 E. Clark St.
- Dec. 30, 5:42 p.m. Officers encountered an individual who was publicly intoxicated at 314 Winona Ave., following investigation of an accident.
- Dec. 30, 6:48 p.m. A battery was reported on East Fort Wayne Street.
- Dec. 31, 12:50 a.m. Officers responded to a call from McDonald’s of an individual driving in an erratic manner at 500 Mcclellan St and Brown Drive. A traffic stop revealed a drunk driver and underage drinker and possession of marijuana. Suspects were arrested.
- Dec. 31, 7:49 a.m. Freedom Express reported theft when a vehicle drove off without paying for gas at 425 Argonne Rd.
- Dec. 30, 9 a.m. Jennifer Burley reported criminal mischief in the form of vandalism to her vehicle at 1413 E. Clark St.
- Dec. 30, Jason Isbell reported a suspicious incident at 748 N. Lake St.
- Dec. 31, 2:33 p.m. Officers encountered an individual involved in an accident who had been driving while holding a suspended license at 1800 W. Center St.
- Jan. 1, 12:27 a.m. A Warsaw woman reported battery at Rex’s Rendezvous, 204 S. Buffalo St.
- Jan. 1, 6:41 a.m. Heather Hersha reported criminal mischief when her vehicle was damaged at 730 Biscayne Ave.
- Jan. 1, 9:31 a.m. Margaret Mason reported theft at 1993 Dausha Ct.
- Jan. 1, 4:12 p.m. Patrick Parker was found to be in possession of paraphernalia and marijuana during a traffic stop at 250 E. Pierceton Rd. Parker, a passenger in the vehicle, was cited and permitted to leave the scene.
- Jan. 1, 4:25 p.m. Kmart of Warsaw reported theft.
Accidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department have recently investigated the following traffic accidents:
- Monday, Dec. 31, 2:33 p.m. West Center Street. Driver: Tabitha Adair, 27, Perry Street, Warsaw. In an attempt to avoid a crash, Adair swerved off the road and struck an electrical marking pole, small tree and caused lawn and building damage at Zimmer Building 5. Damages: up to $5,000
- Monday, Dec. 31, 1:33 p.m. SR 15. Driver: Catherine Coy, 48, Maple Grove Street, Syracuse. A deer ran into the roadway and collided with the vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
- Sunday, Dec. 30, 4:12 p.m. Walton Boulevard. Drivers: Mary Vasquez, 58, N. Main St., Milford; and Matthew Sonne, 21, West 172nd Street, Tinley Park, Ill. Vasquez struck Sonne’s vehicle while backing out of a parking spot. Damages: up to $2,500
- Saturday, Dec. 29, 5:57 p.m. North Lake Street and Fox Farm Road. Driver: Timothy Allen, 36, Dot Street, Warsaw. Allen lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb causing damage. Damages: up to $2,500
- Saturday, Dec. 29, 4:52 p.m. Lake City Highway and North Detroit Street. Michelle Sands, 22, South Country Club Road, Warsaw. Sands lost control of the vehicle, began spinning and struck a bridge barrier wall. Damages: up to $5,000
- Saturday, Dec. 29, 4:30 p.m. North Detroit Street and Anchorage Road. Drivers: Doug Reavis, 44, North 350 West, Columbia City; and Mosqueda Briseno, West Market Street, Warsaw. Reavis rear ended Briseno’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
- Saturday, DEc. 29, 11:45 a.m. 2211 E. Center St. Driver: Ashley Mullins, 24, North Grant Street, Waraw. Mullins sideswiped a vehicle parked next to her’s while she was backing otu. Damages: up to $2,500
- Friday, Dec. 28, 12:21 p.m. Detroit Street and Fort Wayne Street. Driver: Hannah Johnson, 17, Roy Street, Winona Lake. Johnson was struck by a driver who claimed she turned in front of him; driver had no valid license however stated his name was Jaime Noel. Damages: up to $5,000
- Friday, Dec. 28, 11:41 a.m. Lake City Highway. Driver: Dawn Allen, 31, East Catholic Street, Pierceton; and Kyle Kauffman, 54, South Honeybee Court, Warsaw. Allen rear ended Kauffman’s vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000
- Friday, Dec. 28, 10:43 a.m. Provident Drive. Drivers: Daniel Anderson, 26, Clinic Street, Warsaw; and Vincent Webster, 47, West Crystal Lake Road, Warsaw. Anderson’s vehicle slid into the other lane and struck Webster’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
- Friday, Dec. 28, 10:16 a.m. 1910 E. Center St. Driver: Barbara Michael, 69, Yvonna Street, Leesburg. Michael backed into a parking space and struck the vehicle in the parking space next to her. Damages: up to $2,500
