Cougars Claim Second In Tourney
WINONA LAKE – Zarek Finley led the way Saturday as the Lakeland Christian Academy boys basketball team took second place in its own tournament.
Finley poured in 20 points as the host Cougars defeated Covenant Christian of DeMotte 70-35 in the final day of the Cougar Classic played at Grace College.
Finley, who was named to the all-tourney team along with teammate Calvin Prinsen, also had five rebounds and six steals in the dominating win.
LCA, coached by Lee Compson, finished 2-1 in the two-day tourney. Clinton Christian won the tourney with a 3-0 mark.
The hosts led 23-8 after the opening period Saturday en route to the big win over Covenant Christian. LCA hit 7-of-14 treys, dished out 20 assists and forced 25 turnovers in the win.
Collin Price scored 14 points and Chris Silveus had nine for LCA. Prinsen had eight points and five assists and Chris Maron six points and six assists for the winners.
Chad Hill led Covenant Christian with 11 points.
LCA, now 4-7 on the season, hosts Elkhart Christian Friday night.
