Woman Arrested For Dealing Near School
Following an investigation that has spanned several weeks, police in Syracuse arrested an Elkhart woman Thursday for dealing drugs near a school.
Carol Ann Garcia, 44, 1623 Superior St., Elkhart, was taken into custody yesterday and charged with dealing a Schedule III controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
Police made an undercover purchase of numerous prescription pills from Garcia in the parking lot of Syracuse business which was across the street from a preschool. Once the purchase was complete, police stopped the suspect and arrested her without incident.
Garcia is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on the charges as a class A felony. Her bond has been set at $20,000.
According to Syracuse Police Chief Tony Ciriello, the arrest was the result of several undercover operations that have taken place in Syracuse over the last few weeks.
The Syracuse Police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecutors Office in the investigation.
