Three In Custody For Vehicle Break-ins
More than 15 vehicles were broken into near North Webster overnight, but police have three people in custody charged with the crimes.
Michael Alan Rockey, 18, of Cromwell, and Ryan D. Silliman, 19, of North Webster, are preliminarily charged with felony theft. Police say a 14-year-old was also apprehended and is currently at Pierceton Woods juvenile detention center.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested the trio after an off-duty North Webster officer observed them breaking into a vehicle at about 3:37 a.m. today. The North Webster officer immediately chased the fleeing subjects and was able to apprehend one.
Arriving sheriff’s deputies began to setup a perimeter in the area of EMS W22 Lane as detectives arrived. Deputies subsequently located the remaining two suspects at 5437 N. 900 E. and transported them to the KCSD.
Rockey and Silliman are currently being held on individual $2,000 bonds. The juvenile’s information has been forwarded to the Kosciusko County Probation Department.
Sheriff’s detectives stated it appears that approximately 15 to 20 vehicles had been entered into overnight in the same general area of W22 Lane, which is located on the south side of Webster Lake. Officers also have confirmed that at least 10 of the vehicles had items taken from inside the vehicles which vary from cellular phones, GPS electronic devices and power tools.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office along with the North Webster Police Department also assisted with county officers on the investigation.
