WHS Student Interning At TPS
Wawasee High School junior Carli Blosser is serving an early childhood development internship at Teen Parents Succeeding in Syracuse. The internship is through Wawasee High School’s Professional Career Internship Program.
Under the supervision of Trish Miller, coordinator of the high school’s Work-Based Programs, and TPS Lead Caregiver Margaret Grady, Carli will focus on Creative Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers and help to set up the play area with learning stations that emphasize literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, technology and process skills.
“I like children and want to work with them in the future. This will be a good experience,” stated Carli. When asked what she likes most about her internship with TPS, she replied, “I like mostly playing with the children.”
She plans to go to college after high school and pursue a career working with children, possibly in pediatrics.
The 17-year-old lives at Dewart Lake with her mother and works a part-time job at Pizza Hut in Warsaw. TPS Director Janet Weirick stated, “We are fortunate to have Carli helping us out at TPS. Her contribution is a valuable asset to our organization.”
Founded in 1991, Teen Parents Succeeding is a non-profit support organization that helps teenage parents in the Wawasee School District stay in school and complete their education. In addition to other support services, TPS operates a licensed childcare facility that provides low cost childcare to student parents while they attend school and work.
