LCA Hoops Teams Lose To Trinity
WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian Academy boys and girls basketball teams both came up on the short end Saturday versus South Bend Trinity.
Visiting Trinity topped the Cougars 42-39 in the boys contest and by a 54-34 final on the girls side.
The LCA boys team led 15-9 after the opening period and 22-15 at halftime. Trinity outscored the Cougars 19-9 in the key third quarter to take a 34-31 lead.
Collin Price and Chris Silveus each scored 10 points to lead LCA, which lost its fourth straight game to fall to 1-4. Zarek Finley had eight points for the Cougars.
Mark Smith and Mark Harvard each netted 15 points to lead Trinity, which improved to 2-1.
LCA hosts Benton Home School and Trinity plays at Granger Christian Tuesday night.
Molly Hoover fired in a game-high 24 points to lead Trinity to a win in the girls contest.
Trinity, which improved to 5-0, led 17-7 after the first quarter and 32-13 at intermission en route to the victory.
Jessica Goss and Emilee Catron each had eight points for LCA. Frani Gerst scored six points for the Cougars, now 2-6.
LCA plays in the Bethany Christian Tournament Saturday. Trinity plays at LaLumiere Tuesday evening.
