Albert D. ‘Ab’ Shively
Albert D. “Ab” Shively, 92, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 3:18 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
On July 17, 1920, he was born in Burket, Ind. to Ernest R. and Hazel L. (Ellis) Shively. He married Phyllis J. Longenecker on March 6, 1947, in Warsaw. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2001.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Albert graduated from Claypool High School in 1938. He worked as a machinist for Zimmer Manufacturing. He also worked at Power King and Millington Bros. He also founded Ab’s Radiator Shop which is now Ab and Tom’s Radiator Shop.
Albert attended First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. He played semi pro basketball and baseball. He loved sports, especially watching the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame Football and Indiana University Basketball. He enjoyed meeting his friends at Hardee’s Restaurant every morning for coffee.
Albert is survived by his daughter: Jean Anne Shively, Warsaw; his son: Jeff (Janet) Shively, Fort Wayne, Ind.; three sisters: Pauline Lowry, Warsaw; Irene Davis, Warsaw; and Jeanette (Bill) Sadler, Warsaw; one brother: Don (Frances) Shively, Claypool, Ind.; three granddaughters: Heather Shively, Woodstock, Ga.; Lindsay Rehberg, Canton, Ga.; and Megan Shively, Fort Wayne; one grandson: Jason Shively, Fort Wayne; two great-granddaughters: Taylor Rehberg and Emma Loeding; three great-grandsons: Nathan Shively, Landon Rehberg and Hudson Shively; and another great-grandchild due in April.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Merle Shively.
Visitation hours will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home. Pastor Scott Carmer will officiate the service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
