UPDATE: Convicted Offender Charged With Rape
An alleged rape has landed a Warsaw man in jail, charged with forcing sexual intercourse on a female acquaintance and this is not the first time the man has been charged with a sex crime.
Brian K. Knoop, 45, of 340 E. Levi Lee Rd., Warsaw, was taken into custody Tuesday night after an investigation into the rape that was reported Oct. 1. StaceyPageOnline.com has learned today that Knoop is also a registered sex offender from a 2006 child molesting conviction in Kentucky.
Local court documents show Knoop began to touch and kiss a woman without her consent after he went to her home in Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park on Oct. 1. Knoop apparently went to the woman’s home to share results about a pro football game and began the assault, which eventually led to him raping the woman.
When being interviewed by officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Knoop first said he had been home all day. When officers noted DNA samples were being tested, Knoop said he was returning home after running an errand when woman flagged him down and she forced herself on him. He further stated the two had sex in his vehicle.
The victim’s 8-year-old son seemed to confirm his mother’s story saying Knoop did come into their home and forced himself on her.
Knoop is being held on a $20,000 bond. Knoop was convicted in Kentucky in 2006. He is ordered to register as a sex offender until Jan. 1, 2016.
