Rally Set For State-Bound Squads
A pep rally for a trio of state-bound athletic teams from Warsaw Community High School is set for Wednesday evening.
The rally for the boys and girls cross country teams and the boys soccer team begins at 7 p.m. in the Career Center Gym at WCHS. The public is invited.
The three teams will take part in the State Finals in their respective sports on Saturday.
The boys and girls cross country teams will compete in Terre Haute on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Sports Center. The No. 16 girls team, coached by Scott Erba and led by defending state champion Ashley Erba, runs first at 1 p.m. The sixth-ranked WCHS boys squad, coached by Jim Mills and led by Jake Poyner, Ellis Coon and Robert Murphy, competes at 1:45 p.m.
The No. 2 boys soccer team, coached by Scott Bauer, plays for a state championship Saturday in Indianapolis. The Tigers, who are 20-1-2 on the field, face No. 6 Columbus North (16-1-4) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Class 2-A state title match at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium on the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis.
