Gubernatorial Debate Series Begins Tonight
The gubernatorial candidates are set to begin a series of debates this evening.
Republican Mike Pence, Democrat John Gregg and Libertarian Rupert Boneham will square off in Zionsville, Ind., with two more events planned by the Indiana Debate Commission later this month. The commission says up to 1,200 could be in attendance in Zionsville, but two more debates are also planned for this month closer to home.
At Wednesday, Oct. 17, the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center in South Bend will be the venue. The debate will begin at 7 p.m. and there is seating for up to 840 attendees.
The final gubernatorial debate will be in Fort Wayne at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. That venue will be at WFWA-TV, but there will be no available seating for an audience.
Hoosier voters can submit questions to the Indiana Debate Commission for consideration to be asked of candidates in the governor’s race and U.S. Senate race. As many as 2,500 free seats will be available at venues across the state of Indiana that have agreed to donate their facilities.
Indiana voters are invited to submit questions on the commission’s website with links to both races from the home page.

Questions are vetted by members of the commission and those who submit may be invited to ask their questions of the candidates in person.
“The commission continues to put voters first as we engage with candidates in this fall election season with one of our busiest seasons ever,” said Max Jones, president of the commission. “We also had a record number of venues submit applications this year and we also rely on their generosity to provide free and accessible sites to accommodate public attendance.”
The commission also provides a live stream on its site for debate events and archives all of the taped debates on its website for later viewing.
Ticket availability, moderators and formats will be announced at a later time. Details for tickets will also be posted on the commission’s website and Facebook.
