Man Just Out Of Jail Re-arrested
A North Webster man was back behind bars just hours after he was released from the Kosciusko County Jail.
Dakota Marcus Meade, 20, had reportedly gone to a home in North Webster and battered another man just 5 hours after being released from jail Thursday.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded Thursday evening just before 6:30 p.m. to a fight-in-progress at 9500 E. Ponderosa Dr., southeast of North Webster. John Isaac, 52, suffered obvious facial injuries and told officers that Meade came to his mobile home after being released from jail.
Isaac said he told Meade he was no longer welcome at the home. Meade had been living there before he was arrested on Feb. 8 and convicted of criminal theft/conversion.
Isaac said he stepped outside the residence with Meade while his wife went to retrieve Meade’s personal belongings. A verbal confrontation ensued and then became physical. Isaac said he was struck several times in the head. Meade then fled the scene according to Isaac and a neighboring witness.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s K-9 handler Travis Shively responded to the scene and began to track Meade into a nearby wooded area. Deputy Shively and his canine located Meade a short time later hiding in a dense brush area and took him into custody without incident.
Meade was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail and preliminarily arrested on charges of battery. The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office has set Meade’s bond at $500 at the current time.
