Hundreds Line Up For Giveaway
CCS Executive Director Steve Possell said some people came out as early as before 4:30 a.m. to get in line to receive their children’s school supplies for the upcoming school year.
Peggi Lisenbee-Wright, CCS director of client services, said the program served about 1,500 children last year and she’s expecting the number to be even higher this year. Due to the numbers, Lisenbee-Wright is also asking donors who are able to provide more school supplies to bring them to the Home and Family Arts Building at the Kosciusko County fairgrounds today.
They are especially in need of notebook paper, crayons, glue and scissors. “We are going right off the school’s supplies lists this year, so it’s the smaller stuff we’re looking for,” she said.
The Tools For Schools giveaway is made possible this year with partnership from Warsaw Dollar Tree which, with the American Red Cross of Kosciusko County, presented over 3,300 school supplies.
