UPDATE: Fatal Accident in Warsaw
It happened at 9:16 p.m. Thursday on CR 350 West just north of CR 200 North. When emergency personnel arrived, they located a 1996 Ford Contour that had disintegrated upon impacting a utility pole.
Shaun C. Owens, 32, Warsaw, had been partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma, according to Kosciusko County Deputy Coroner Mike Wilson. Police say he was wearing his seat belt.
Due to the severity of the crash scene, Samaritan was called to fly over and look for any other victims who may have been involved. Authorities say Owens was the sole occupant of the car.
Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team officers stated that Owens had been northbound on CR 350 West and lost control of his vehicle, according to a witness. Owens over-corrected after coming over a small hill and slid off the roadway and into a utility pole.
Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash and it is still under investigation according to members of the Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team.
The F.A.C.T. team was assisted at the scene by the Warsaw Police and Fire Departments, Multi-Township E.M.S., Indiana State Police, and the Kosciusko County Coroner and Sheriff’s Departments.
